Setting Up

Network Drives

Agent DVR can utilize network drives to store all your important content.

Here's how to get it set up:

  • 1: First, select your server in the Agent portal.
  • 2: Head to the Settings tab and click on the Settings button.
  • 3: Jump over to the Storage tab.
  • 4: Click to add a new storage location.
  • 5: Type in the UNC path to your desired save location (remember, use the UNC path, not a mapped drive like z:\). It should start with the network machine name, like \\wdmycloud\public\Agent or \\davesPC\c$\Agent.
  • 6: Under Network Storage, fill in the network machine name (e.g., wdmycloud or davesPC) and (on Windows) the username and password used to access the device. On Linux and OSX you will need to grant the user Agent is running as permissions to access the location.
  • Tip #1: If Agent struggles to connect to the drive, consider setting the folder to public read/write access.
  • Tip #2: If Agent is running as a service and you're facing issues connecting to your NAS then it might be due to the set of permissions Windows is granting your service. Try these steps:
    • Identify the Service Account:
    • Open the "Services" management console (services.msc).
    • Locate Agent in the list, right-click it, and select "Properties".
    • Go to the "Log On" tab to see which account the service is running under.
    • If the service runs under the "Local System account", change it to a user account with access to the NAS drive:

      Select "This account".
Enter the username and password of a user account with access to the NAS drive.
Click "OK" and restart the service.

    • Attempt to add the NAS again.

And that's it! You're all set to use your network drives with Agent DVR.
